Paint-By-Patch Pet Portrait Classes

Paint-By-Patch Pet Portrait Classes

Pets are individuals. Often it is difficult if not impossible to find a work of art that captures their personality completely. There are options, of course, hire a pet portrait artist, or ...

... do it yourself.

Foxy is offering classes where you can try your hand at painting your own precious pet. Perfect keepsakes of friends with us, memorials for those who have left our side, or also great as a handmade gift for someone featuring their beloved furry friend.

Simply sign up for an available class, provide Foxy with a photo of your special pet and she will create the digital outline of your pet (any species), and laser engrave it on a wood plaque. In the class you will have everything you need to paint the patches between the laser engraving with Foxy on hand to guide you. All abilities and ages welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Photo Selection

When selecting your source photo make sure the photo is in good contrast lighting, fairly close to the pet vs out in the field, and as a large file. Photos that have been sent through sites like Facebook have been compressed and might distort. Try to send the original quality digital photo if possible. Poses like Aries's sample portrait tend to work best, the 3/4 pose vs full profile or straight on. Of course ones displaying personality are great subjects as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

The paint we'll be using is acrylic--which tends to stubbornly stick to fabric. Please wear clothing you don't mind getting a touch of paint on just in case.
